Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. After relocating to Oxfordshire when she was five, she enrolled in the Dragon School. Emma's goal was to be an actor. When she was six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught classes on singing, acting, as well as dancing. At the age of 10, she had performed and taken the lead in various Stagecoach shows and school productions. Casting began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents discovered Emma by way of her Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint following auditions for 8 times. They were chosen to play the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the big screen took place in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. The movie set records in terms of opening day and weekend numbers, and was the top-grossing 2001 film. Critics have praised both the film, as well as the performance by three young actors. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Emma was later awarded five prizes to honor her role in the film.
